The Role:

As a Senior Content Writer, you will manage everything written under the Design First brand — Instagram captions, long-form editorial, website copy, campaign narratives, client proposals, project stories, founder notes, video scripts, event communications and marketing collateral.

Our audience is affluent, design-conscious and deeply appreciative of thoughtful communication. Every word must reflect the sophistication, warmth and design intelligence that defines Design First.

This is not a content production role. Volume is not a metric. One piece of writing that advances the brand is worth more than twenty pieces that merely fill a calendar.

 

What would you be required to do?

Editorial & Brand Content 

  • Write long-form content for Design First, including project narratives, client journey stories, designer philosophy pieces, space descriptions and thought leadership articles that communicate design intent with clarity and sophistication.
  • Write all organic social content across Instagram, LinkedIn and Pinterest, maintaining a warm, design-led and refined brand voice.
  • Write and maintain website copy, including service pages, project descriptions, landing pages and brand narratives.
  • Develop campaign concepts, campaign copy and launch narratives that differentiate Design First within the luxury interiors market.
  • Write founder narratives and thought leadership content that articulate Design First's design philosophy, approach and point of view.

Video, Campaign & Communication Content 

  • Write video scripts and Reel scripts that feel natural, insightful and aligned with the Design First brand.
  • Develop copy for Meta and Google advertising campaigns while maintaining premium brand positioning.
  • Write email campaigns, event invitations, client communications and marketing outreach materials.
  • Develop presentation copy, project proposals and client-facing documents to publication quality standards.
  • Draft founder communications where required, including notes, statements, announcements and thought leadership pieces in the Founder’s voice.

Brand Governance & Quality Control

  • Help build and maintain the Design First Brand Voice Document.
  • Review all outgoing written communication and identify where tone, language or structure deviates from brand standards.
  • Work closely with the Brand Strategist, Graphic Designer and Performance Marketing team to ensure consistency across all communication touchpoints.

Research & Content Development

  • Research architecture, interior design, furniture design, design history, craftsmanship, luxury lifestyles and global design trends with genuine depth.
  • Translate complex design concepts into content that is engaging, intelligent and accessible.
  • Continuously build knowledge of luxury residential interiors, bespoke furniture, materials, design movements and contemporary design culture.

 

What skills we are looking for?

Qualifications:

  • Degree in English, Journalism, Mass Communication, Humanities, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Portfolio quality takes precedence over formal qualification — the work is the evidence.

Experience:

  • 10–12 years of professional writing experience — the portfolio is the definitive evidence of this application.
  • Demonstrated range: long-form editorial, short-form social, campaign copy and institutional writing — all at a consistent quality level.
  • Documented professional exposure to luxury, architecture, design, art, or luxury hospitality in produced, published work.
  • Has maintained a brand voice over an extended period — not just written within someone else’s voice.
  • Understands SEO writing and brand-led writing as two separate disciplines with separate governing principles.

Architecture, Interiors & Material Vocabulary:

  • Strong working knowledge of interior design and materials vocabulary, including luxury residential design, room proportions, joinery, bespoke furniture, stone and surface finishes, and architectural material specifications.
  • Understanding of how luxury homes, bespoke interiors and design culture are discussed in leading publications such as Architectural Digest, Wallpaper*, Elle Decor and Financial Times How To Spend It.

Skills & Qualities:

  • The ability to build and maintain a distinctive luxury brand voice — this is the central skill and the first thing the portfolio will be assessed for.
  • Restraint as a cultivated skill — knowing what not to say, when to stop, when the image speaks for itself.
  • Research depth — can write with authority about unfamiliar material after proper research, without the research showing.
  • Editorial instinct — knows when a piece needs cutting, when the opening is the third paragraph, when the brief itself is wrong.
  • A reading life that informs the writing — design media, quality journalism, literary non-fiction.
  • Professional maturity — takes precise feedback without fragility and uses it to sharpen the work.
  • Emotional maturity, ownership and discretion — the operating standard in a founder-led luxury design environment.

Tools & Platforms:

  • Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) — mandatory for all drafts, briefs and brand voice documentation.
  • CMS: WordPress or equivalent — for uploading and maintaining website copy.
  • Content scheduling: Meta Business Suite or Later — working familiarity required.
  • SEO context: Semrush or Ahrefs at reading level — to understand keyword landscape without conflating SEO with brand-led writing.
  • Project management: Notion, Asana, or equivalent — for tracking editorial calendar and content approval stages.

Please submit a portfolio showcasing long-form editorial writing, social media content, campaign copy, website content, and any published work relevant to luxury, design, architecture, interiors, hospitality, or premium brands.
